My birthday was a bit stressful. Honestly, what I wanted for my
birthday was to be able to sleep in and just relax. Well with me being
sick most of December, I missed my the cookie exchange with my friends
and being able to see my friend who was home from Sweden. My friend
ended up planning what I thought was just a get together on my actual
birthday. I really wanted to see everyone, but this made it stressful
for planning my birthday celebration and having to take William. Turns
out it was a surprise party for me! My mom and Sandra were there too and
my mom tells me that I was not surprised looking, but honestly, I was
just glad I made it there at all. Matt didn't really celebrate my
birthday, I was stressed about a colicky baby and really just needed
some sleep. Note to others: while you have good intentions, a surprise
party for your friend who has a colicky newborn is not a good idea!
Overall, it was a lot of fun though. It was so incredibly sweet of
Carolina and her mom to host a party for me and the food was delicious!
There was cheese and cupcakes--really you can't go wrong!
The
best part about my surprise party, besides spending time with my
friends, was that they made me and Matt food! Amazing food at that (have
I mentioned that my friends are amazing chefs?!). They coordinated
making me meals (already prepackaged into small portions) so that we
could freeze them. This was quite possibly the most thoughtful present
ever. Yes, do this for new parents throughout the first six months. It's
needed! So half of my friends made food in January and the other half
made meals when I saw them in early March. Thank you, thank you, thank
you! Love my friends. :) They are the best!
The next day, I celebrated with family. My sister and mom went all out with 30th-birthday decorations. Sandra made an awesome two-tiered cake with chocolate and yellow cake. Yum!
