Our New Place

So with the baby coming, Matt and I needed a new place. Our current apartment was only a one bedroom with every little extra space. It was perfect for us and did have a lot of storage space, but just not big enough for a baby long term. Since our lease was up in late August, we needed to move. It worked out as good timing before William came. :)

Matt and I had one free weekend in July (actually it was one free Sunday, not even a full weekend) that we had to find a new place. We had decided we were done with apartment complexes and wanted to rent from a private owner. My sister and Ryan used a Realtor and family friend of ours to help them when they were renting and then with buying their house as well. We decided to use her help as well and so we picked out a few places we liked ahead of time and that Sunday morning, we headed out to look at a few places.

The second place we went in was the condo we ended up renting. Matt loved it, but I wasn't sold at first. I had wanted a bigger place, maybe even a three-bedroom place, so Matt's mom could stay with us and just to have more space. With the available options though, most were two bedrooms. After seeing everything, it was clear that the second place was the best fit.

We had our paperwork ready based on Virginia's (the Realtor) advice and so we personally dropped our application off at the renting Realtor's house (also Virginia's advice). Thank goodness Virginia prepped us to be ready because apparently three other offers for the condo came in the next day, but we were first and we got approved!! :) What a huge relief!

We started our new lease on August 1, but we didn't have to be out of our old apartment until late August. This gave us some overlap to move a few things ourselves, get packed up and have time to clean out the old apartment. I am so grateful to my mom who paid someone to come clean out old apartment for us. It made life so much easier!

We love love love our new place! I was afraid after living in our other apartment for five years that we would have a hard time adjusting to the new place. From day 1 though, it has felt like home. It's a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo. It has nice upgrades, and we have a wonderful landlord. The best part about the new place though is the fact that we can walk to my parents (a 10-minute walk, if that) and I am super close to work. It's amazing!

Good-bye old apartment.

Hello new condo!
Of course we had to play cards our first night there!
