More on our baby favorites. These we used mostly from three months through the present. I can't believe my little guy turned six months this week. I'll have to start compiling our six month essentials list!
1. Baby Einstein activity jumper: On one trip to Babies R Us, I found this jumper (neighborhood friends edition) on clearance. With coupons, I think it came out to around $50. Awesome! I was eager for William to try it out. This was his "Santa" gift this year and even though he was still too little, I put him in it (with a blanket for support). He now really enjoys jumping in it. The nice part about this jumper is that it's 360, and it has adjustable heights.
2. Carter's pajama sets: So my little string bean is long and skinny. He's not quite as long as he used to be, but he still outgrows outfits because of length before width. I LOVE the Carter's pajama sets for him, and was super excited to score some on sale at Kohl's recently. I stocked up on all sizes! These are probably the one exception I have to buying new clothes for William because I just love them so much. First, they are super soft--a must with William's sensitive skin. Second, they have tapered legs with cuffs so the pants are easier to get on a squirmy baby. Third, they fit William really well given his long, skinny issue with clothes. We use them as outfits because they are so cute! Love love love!
3. Goodnight, I love you: We began reading to William before he goes to bed most nights (some nights he's having a meltdown and we just skip story time!). I don't think he quite gets the whole concept yet, but it's part of our routine. With that said, some children's books are really lame. This is one of my favorites though. :)
4. Bumbo: We actually started using this chair a little early (probably December??). A friend of mine let me borrow hers despite Matt's objection that it was purple. But hey, it was free for us and William LOVED being able to sit up "on his own." In those early months, he just really wanted to be able to look out at the world (still does) and this made that easier. We still use this occasionally, but William is becoming too mobile and so we have to sit the Bumbo on the floor now for fear he'll fall out. Early on, we could sit this on our table while we ate and he wouldn't move and we got to eat in peace.
5. Aden + Anais washcloths: As I mentioned, William has really sensitive skin. Around three months, he got an infection on his face that took two rounds of antibiotics to get rid of. :( We had him tested for allergies and luckily after two tests and two failed attempts at blood work, we have ruled out any major food allergies and he has just been diagnosed with eczema (and my self-diagnosis of sensitive skin). With that, I can't say enough about the Aden + Anais brand. Love these washcloths. They are super soft, which is nice for William's skin. We have these in the "Oh Boy" and "Twinkle." For whatever reason, the "Twinkle" washcloths are bigger, which will be nice as William grows.
6. Zutano booties: As you all know, I love me some GoodWill shopping for the baby. I scored these little booties during one of my first visits. Seriously, $0.75 for these awesome "shoes." We used these throughout the winter to keep William's feet warm when we went out.
7. Skip Hop alphabet zoo activity gym: We were gifted this activity mat by our friends. William finally started to enjoy it once he had a little more mobility and hand control. It's set up in his room and we have quiet time each night before bed by playing on this mat. We keep a collection of toys for him to play with on it and switch out the toys that dangle off of it. I like that the mat itself is machine washable.
8. Baby Einstein baby neptune ccean orchestra: My aunt gave us this little turtle for Christmas and William LOVES it. Early on there were few toys that William could actually play with. This has large buttons that activate the music and lights. Boy could hit this all day!
9. Aden + Anais bibs: Again, love this brand! These are the best bibs for William's skin. They are super soft and do not irritate him. They aren't the best for absorbing all his drool, but we just change his bib throughout the day and he's fine. While he's still little, the best are the ones linked here that have the snap in the back. They are slightly smaller than the ones that have an adjustable snap on the side.
10. Fisher-Price rattle 'n rock maracas musical: My mother-in-law sent these to William. Once he had better hand control (probably about three months), he has loved them. He still uses them now at six months! The best part about these is the fact that it has a soft end. William tends to just hit himself with everything (even his own hands) so the soft end is a great feature.
11. Fisher-Price rainforest bouncer: My friend let us borrow this bouncer as well (did I mention I love the fact that my friend had a baby a year before me!). At first, William didn't really like it (he basically just liked being held or in his glider and occasionally the Boppy). Somewhere around December/January though, he began to love this chair. We keep it near our bathroom and he gets to sit in it when I shower and get ready in the morning. I turn the music on and it is activated when he hits the monkey and parrot in front of him. It also vibrates, which is a nice feature. This does take some large batteries (I think 4 C batteries). Since my friend had used this (and I think someone before her), I had to replace the batteries, but it's been going strong ever since. Another perk is that the seat is machine washable.
