30 Before 30 List: 1-6

Life is perpetually busy, but I wouldn't have it any other way. It's been almost a month since I last posted. Oh my! I'll catch you all up on life's happenings soon.

But first, it's time to celebrate my birthday! Today is my 29th birthday. Where did my 20s go?! So many pivotal things happened in my 20s that I'm a little sad to seem them coming to a close.

There are so many things in life that I always say, "I'll get to it later." Well, later is happening and I'm still not getting to those things. So I'm committing to a 30 before 30 list. Who knows, this may change along the way, but here's the first part of my list. In complete Annie fashion, these all have to do with reading and writing.

1. Read 29 books, while 29. I think this one will be easy (you need a few of those right?). I love to read already and usually read about 30 books a year. I figured I'd be silly and pick 29 for my goal this year. Follow me on Goodreads to see my progress.

2. Join an in-person book club. I had started joining my apartment complex's book club, but that kind of fizzled. So I'll aim to find another book club to join. I have no idea where to start and am slightly intimidated by meeting new people. This should be interesting.

3. Read and get rid of the books on my bookshelf (e-books only for 2015!). This was my New Year's resolution a few years back. I made a good dent in my bookshelf, only to start reading more e-books when my commute got longer. Yet, I managed to gain more paper books...thus the full bookcases again. Time to battle those bookshelves once and for good!

4. Start writing my cozy mystery book--at least have a storyline and outline going. As a communicator for my professional job and a lover of cozy mysteries in my personal life, I have always wanted to combine the two and write my own book. There's no better time than to start now!

5. Learn to turn off the TV more when at home by enjoying a rainy afternoon or evening of reading by the fireplace with a good cup of tea.
It's no secret that Matt and I LOVE TV. I love reading too, but too often when I'm at home, the TV is always on. It's one of the first things I do when I get home at night. This needs to change. I want to enjoy reading at home again. Maybe it's not even the focus on reading, but just not watching as much TV when at home.

6. Write more often in my line-a-day journal. A friend gave me a line-a-day, five-year journal two years ago. You write one or two sentences each day and you ideally will have five years of thoughts in one little book. Love this! Well, I haven't been great about keeping up with it. So I commit myself to being better about journaling this year!

Look for the remaining lists in future posts!
