We really don't go all out for Thanksgiving with my family. It's just my immediate family normally and we just eat a big meal together in the afternoon and plan for Black Friday shopping.
Thanksgiving this year was an interesting one for us though. My aunt and uncle came to visit, my friend Cam also joined us, we had a lunch instead of afternoon meal, and we weren't planning on shopping on Black Friday so no planning needed.
What a great holiday weekend we had though. We had fun, we laughed, we ate, we even did a little shopping (Grandma included!). While I did most of my shopping online, it was fun to get out a little on Friday.
One good thing about Grandma being in VA now (ok, there are many!), but the one I am thankful for right now is my extended family visiting more often. We get to see someone from my mom's family about once a month now. Growing up being the only ones in Virginia, I missed out on having extended family nearby to just hang out with. But that made seeing them even more special. I have definitely enjoyed the family visits this year. Here's to more in 2014!

It wouldn't be a family post without a picture of Grandma and Will.
These two love each other. :) |
