Get Cozy with a Cozy!

Mysteries are by far my favorite genre of books, in particular cozy mysteries!

What’s a cozy mystery you might ask. Cozies, as many people call them, are a subgenre of mysteries. They’re primarily defined by their use of an amateur sleuth, lack of gore and profanity, and focus on the whodunit puzzle. These mysteries are frequently (not always) humorous, character-focused, set in small-towns, and are part of a series, centered around a theme.

I've been so busy this year, I haven't read as much and in particular haven't read any cozies so I feel like I've missed out. Summertime really doesn't feel the same because I haven't had time to sit poolside and read. I'm trying to get back on track and catch up on some much needed reading and time on Goodreads. :)

As I read through the latest on my Goodreads cozy mystery group, I think back to when I started liking mysteries and I can honestly say I think my love began in elementary school! I remember loving Cam Jansen mystery books and every time the school library got a new one, I would check it out. haha, was I a dork? No!

In 2010, I happen to read a cozy mystery and my love for mysteries began all over again! My first series that I truly loved was Mary Ellen Hughes's craft corner series.

My all-time favorite author is probably Jessica Fletcher/Donald Bain. Yes, you may think I'm a middle-aged woman, but no, I am in fact in my twenties. I remember watching Murder She Wrote with my mom as a kid (watch them now still!) and the books are just as good, if not better. Matt may make fun of me, but I love them. :)

For any cozy fans out there, what was your first series favorite? Who are your favorite authors?
