To sum up November, I'd say it was a blur. Matt was back at work. I did more outings with me and William. He was such a colicky baby, but he did well with being out in his stroller or car seats. I walked to the shopping center near our house often just to break up the day. I got a lot of house cleaning done and watched mindless TV (seriously, if you think pregnancy brain is bad, try new mom brain. It's way worse!).
We also learned the magic that is baby wearing. I never thought I'd be one to wear my baby, but man, did it help with William's colic. He loved being worn! He's just snuggle in there and fall asleep right away. Once he got bigger, it's been a challenge to find a wrap or carrier that works well for me, but I will never forget how wonderful it was those first few months to be able to wear William. With this said, William would have some evenings (which tended to be the worst time of day) where he just cried...all...evening...I am so glad those days are over.
Also in November, Matt had some vacation time to use up so he took the week of Veterans' Day off. This was perfect timing for his mom to come visit and meet William. It worked out well because it was in the middle of my maternity leave so it was nice to have Matt home again and the extra help from his mom.
This was especially good timing since I got a clogged ducts a couple times during this week so I was in a lot of pain, had to go to the doctor's and had to think of some creative ways to get my boobs unclogged. Luckily, William was still young enough that he was able to latch and that did the trick. I had to then pump literally every two hours and it took weeks for my supply to return. Talk about a rough start to pumping. It was pure love and dedication that got me through all that. I am so thankful that I was able to produce anything. For my own sanity and to spend time with my little guy, I've since slowly dropped from 10 pumps per day down to three. I don't produce enough for William, but I've come to terms with that.
While Matt's mom was in town, my sister hosted a bridal shower for a family friend of ours. I was excited for everyone to meet William. As fussy as he is, this kid was a complete angel and slept through the whole bridal shower! It was amazing! I also think mom enjoyed showing him off. lol.
Random note, but my poor kid was born with an old man hair style. He was bald on the top of his head, but had tons of hair on the sides and back of his head. haha. Matt's brother made fun of this so much. Poor William had what my mom called a duck tail for a while. lol.
Matt still wasn't too comfortable with staying home alone with William. My mom and I were the best at settling William down for while there in the beginning.
A few notes about William's growth: William weighed 8 lbs. 4.4 oz. (37 percentile) and was 22 inches long (96th percentile) at his two-week checkup on Ocober 30. He is still in three-month clothing, but some of those six-month onesies fit just fine! Clothes seem to fit baggy but he outgrows them in length. Long and lean still! No doctor's appointments this month so no official weight and height.
Here's a photo recap of our month:
