It's a BOY!!

Ok, so by now you already know that Matt and I had a boy, but here's a little back story on how we found out, along with some sonogram pics.

Our 20-week appointment was on June 5 (2014). We could not wait for the day! Matt was able to get off work for the morning to go with me. The sonogram technician (who I became very familiar with over the course of my pregnancy) was super nice. She pointed out various body parts for us (sometimes it's hard to tell!). So we had said we wanted to find out the sex, but Baby E was being very stubborn throughout the appointment so Matt and I both thought we weren't going to find out that day.

Toward the end of our appointment, the tech asked us what we thought we were having. I said, everyone tells us that it's a girl, but that everyone we knew that were having fall babies (which was quite a few people) were having boys. She then surprised us by saying, "Well everyone you know is wrong. It's a boy!" Then she pointed out William's private area to us. I literally was in such shock, I barely said anything. I remember just smiling a lot. Matt didn't say thing that I can remember. He was in a state of shock. We both walked out of the appointment and I was just giddy and shocked and all Matt could say was, "I really wanted a girl."

It didn't take long for that shock to wear off though and Matt was quickly dreaming about blue everything and a sports-themed nursery! haha. I remember us going to Babies R Us not long after finding out it was a boy and it was now ME who was not ready for everything boy! It took me a little time to adjust. Having grown up with two sisters, sports-themed stuff was not the norm!

But back to just finding out about having a boy. So I think Matt's car was in the shop that day maybe. I can't remember now, but for some reason, Matt dropped me off at work after our appointment. The first person was called was Matt's dad. He for sure thought it was a girl, but when we told him it was a boy, he was so excited. Another Elkin to carry on the name!

We had planned to do dinner with my family the following night, but we couldn't wait! My mom picked me up from work that day and so I was over there anyway and couldn't wait to tell her. We played a round of cards to determine if we'd tell them or wait until our planned dinner. Well, I think Matt won so that determined that we'd tell them. It was a nice day out and I remember being on the front porch and bringing out the sonogram pictures. My mom was soooo shocked. Her reaction was, "I don't know what to do with a boy!" haha.

I honestly don't remember how my sisters and dad reaction or when we told them exactly because not everyone was there that first night, or they came later in the evening. And we probably called Matt's mom that evening when she was home from work, but I can't remember! I do know that this little boy is loved beyond words by everyone. He is one lucky little guy to have so many aunts, uncles and grandparents!

His little profile
"Hi, Mom!"
A little leg. Looks like a skinny Elkin leg!
Our first boy things below! The first outfit I bought was the little navy and white striped jacket (with an elephant on it), pants and "handsome like daddy" onesie. He still fits in it slightly and I'm having trouble packing it away. I saw my friend, Ashley, shortly after we found out and she LOVES boy clothes so of course she bought us some immediately, and of course they were elephants! Oh and some turtles. Too cute! The little blue elephant outfit in front is what we brought William home in. So sad to pack that one up (long ago because William is so freaking long!).
