The same day as MaKayla's birthday party, my dad's mom's family held a family reunion. Apparently all these years, my dad's uncles have lived close by us (in Culpepper and Alexandria!). We just never visited with them.
A little back story, my grandmother and her three siblings were split up as children. Her youngest sister was adopted, her brothers grew up in boys' homes and my grandmother, I believe, stayed with her mother. This was the very first time all the siblings' families had gotten together!
I was so thankful to be able to attend since it was in Virginia. Relatives came from all over the United States and even Canada!
There were a couple of events throughout the weekend. I was only able to attend the gathering on Saturday afternoon/evening. On Sunday there was a brunch as well that my parents went to.
My great uncle owns about 100 acres of land out in Culpepper. It was beautiful!
