Baby Favorites: Feeding

1. Medela Advanced Personal Double Pump: For mom's who think they may want to breast feed (or at least give their baby breast milk), check with your insurance because most offer some options for free. I chose this Medela pump (covered by my insurance) and have loved it. I will add that it is helpful to make sure your flanges are the right size, and it's nice to have an extra set for when the others are in the dishwasher (we sanitize all baby things in once a week) or it's been nice to just keep an extra set of needed supplies at work during the week.

2. Playtex SmartSpace Drying Rack: Babies have lots of stuff--dishes included. Having a separate drying rack is a must if you plan to hand wash everything, like we do. This one has served us well. It can hold a lot. I would recommend though getting a larger pad to put underneath. The ones that come with these are separated out, which is nice if you only use half the rack, but we always use both.

3. Dr. Browns 8 oz bottles: Since I shop at Babies R Us frequently, I take advantage of the free Dr. Browns bottles. We don't use these to feed, but I use them to pump and store breast milk. When I stopped pumping overnight, these bottles were (and still are) perfect to pump directly into. They are compatible with my Medela pump, so it's one less thing to clean! It's also nice to have some larger bottles to store milk in the frig instead of a lot of small bottles taking up space.

4. Medela Tender Care Lanolin Cream: In the beginning, breast feeding takes a toll on your nipples. Have some cream handy to help! I used it every morning after I showered or before pumping, I'd put some on.

5. The Honest Company Dish Soap: Love this stuff! We get the grapefruit scent and it smells amazing! I have really liked the Honest Company's soaps. I feel like they do a good job of cleaning out breast milk and formula from bottles. I would say just get this at Target. I don't think the Honest Company bundles really save you all that much (my opinion based on my needs) and they aren't so easy to unsubscribe from.

6.Boon Orb Bottle Warmer: My in-laws gave us this as a gift. I really didn't think we needed one, but with exclusively pumping, we storage more milk in the frig than I thought we would so it's actually been super helpful. This one takes a little time and we can't quite keep it from looking rusty...not sure if it's us or the warmer so I'll just say, this one does the job.

7. Munchkin Bottle and Nipple Brush: We had a Playtex brush to begin with and it was good, but I feel like this brush with the foam on the end does a better job of getting the slimy grime out of the bottles.

8. Mam bottles: I've mentioned these before, but they are worth mentioning again here in my feeding favorites. Since William had acid reflux, I researched bottles to see if maybe the ones we were using made a difference with his spitting up and gas. In December, we started using these bottles and haven't looked back. It could have been the bottles or just coincidence, but either way, William does well with these. Plus, they are so much easier than Dr. Brown bottles to get all the parts clean.

9. Munchkin Deluxe Dishwasher Basket: Baby bottles have a lot of little parts. These baskets are perfect!

10. Lansinoh Soothies Gel Pads:  As I mentioned, breast feeding can hurt at first. I had a few samples of these and they saved me when my nipples were super sore in the beginning.

11. Medela Breast Milk Storage Solution: Matt and I have loved having this storage container for our frig. In the beginning when we were mixing breast milk and formula, this was great to help us stay organized. It has also saved us when one of my storage bags had a leak--everything was contained! Also, having the extra bottles and lids is awesome! This lids with the days of the week are super helpful!

12. Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags: Ah, I forgot these in my collage, but they are amazing! I have only had them leak once and they could have easily been user error. These bags hold 6 oz which is more than enough for us. We like to freeze enough for one bottle in each bag (makes it easier for defrosting). The double seal on these is a great feature. I like them much better than Medela bags.
